Can anyone shed any light on a recurring fault on this 6 year old machine.

The initial fault was worn out brushes on the Welling motor causing multiple clicking of the door lock. I renewed the brushes, ran in the brushes, tested on full spin, and all seemed fine.

The next day, the customer reported the machine again would not start the program. I then found the drain pump was open circuit, so renewed that. On testing, the motor brushes were arcing heavily and as the motor sped up, an inlet valve starting pulsing on and off rapidly. I ran the spin cycle at 400 rpm to re-bed the brushes, then gradually increased the speed to 1200. The arcing stopped and everything seemed to be working fine.

Today, the arcing was back, along with the pulsing inlet valve. I repeated the slow spin to restore the brushes, then tested a full 1200 spin cycle with a partial load.

Something tells me this is not the last I will hear of it. Has anyone else seen this fault? Is it likely that the module has been damaged by the arcing brushes or pump failure? All the electrical readings are fine.

Thanks, Martin. So far the customer says the machine is still working fine, but I’ll act on your advice if this changes.
