Have been out to this hotpoint today ,and found a slug had crawled across the back of the board and shorted across the resistor and 400v cap clean it all up remade solder joints but machine is as dead as a dodo. Wondered if anyone knows what component is likely to have been wrecked on the board.
If the resistor is in the high voltage part of the circuit and been shorted then quite possible/likely that the switch mode chip may be fried – I don’t have a board here to go any more specific but know from experience that switch mode chips are easy to kill.
