    Guys,

I wonder if you would be able to advice as to what may be the issue with a Hotpoint WMM39A washing machine I have been to see a few times. Initially I went out and replaced the PCB on this machine after noticing that when selecting a wash cycle (or spin for that matter) the door would lock, the machine would spin the drum for a couple of seconds at a relatively fast speed before finishing, then nothing else would happen.

Changing the PCB worked but now the customer has reported the same problem (about 3 months later). Can any of you maybe point me in the right direction as to what may be the underlying problem.

    Yours,

    Mark

you should take the front off and check the wiring were it is cable tied to drum prone to chaffing and shorting

That tacho related normally. Check motor tacho where the wires leave it as its common for them to brake there, if ok as has been said check all wiring back up as these often rub through on the lower weight. Did one today funny enough but was the heater wires.
