ParticipantI have a Hotpoint WMT02 which has been a good machine, have replaced bearings once. We always run on program G (Acrylics 40°). Recently it takes in the water through the powder tray, revolves a few times then stops about 3 mins into the cycle. The Prog End light is flashing. Pushing the start button for 2 seconds then allows the machine to continue its cycle as normal. All the valves are working and letting water in (hot & cold). There is no blockage to the level sensor, cleaned it out. The heater works just fine as I can hear it heating when required (tried a 90° cycle). I’ve checked all the cables and connectors and they seem tight on.
It almost seems as if the Start button has been pressed to pause the cycle as once the machine is stopped and the light is flashing, a 2 second push of the button sends it on it’s way to continue the cycle just fine. I’ve had the panel off the front and dusted of the circuit board and cleaned around the start switch in case that was perhaps sticking.
It seems to work just fine on some of the other cycles (not tried them all, boring sitting here watching the machine). That may be co-incidence though as the problem only occurs about 80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time we try cycle G, sometimes it just works fine.
Any advice welcome.
Thanks

I’ve a bit more to add. This now is happening also on another program, E, 40° full wash. After pushing the start button to get the machine to carry on it’s cycle, it then runs OK and completes the cycle, but the PROG END light stays on continuously through the cycle. Not sure if that helps!
I have a new, genuine, heater element for this. If there’s a possibility that this could be causing the symptoms, I’ll fit it. Opinions?

If the END light flashes during a cycle it means the programme has been paused.
Assuming that you are not doing this yourself then it suggests that either the buttons are sticking slightly or there is an intermittent fault on the pcb.
If something has been split on the facia, tea, coffee etc then this can cause the buttons to stick.
If the heater insulation is OK I would leave it well alone.
It is possible with extreme care to remove the pcb to check and clean the buttons if needed. With the mains plug removed of course. 😉September 23, 2012 at 1:21 pm #380502bigchrisrogers

Well, I managed to get this fixed and working properly. I had also noticed that the conditioner was not being flushed into the drum. Conditioner is only flushed when both cold water valves open together. After a thorough clean of the whole soap tray system and pipes it was still no better. I figured one of the valves may not be opening so ordered a new 2-valve set. Fitted that, no change. Eventually decided it was the control board not sending power to open the valve.
Picked up a second hand control board from e-bay. Not exactly the same one as it was from a WMT01, but no issue. Fitted it in 10 minutes and ran a cycle. No problems. Have since tried half a dozen washes over the weekend. All worked fine and also correctly flushed the conditioner. Missus now very happy, result.
