ParticipantI disconnected the wires when I stripped the machine down for a bearing change .Most of the connections will only go in one place but there are some that are just spade connections and I cannot remember which way they go.

ParticipantHow much is a service engineer for 30 seconds
thanksAugust 6, 2006 at 3:27 pm #184287gegsy
ParticipantRe: HOTPOINT WMT03P WASHING MACHINE WIRING DIAGRAM
I think its going to take longer than that and the engineer is worth every penny considering the machine is worthless as it is now.

Hi workman
You don’t seem to be listed as a trade member. If you need access please use the correct link to sign up 🙂 .It would be deemed inappropriate for any trade member to divulge too much information to the public for safety and legal reasons, as it is in this instance.

hi workman
i am going to try a few things check the voltage on the wires,I believe i may have sorted the problem, but please keep in touch.I should have taken a picture of the wires but i had other things on my mind. Just for info it is the two wires entering the back of the control board .there are two wires onto the pressure sensor which detects the water level and the two wires which go on to the heating coil. i also have a problem with the wires which control the water inlet solenoids .i will deal with one at a time .As I said the engineer would spend 30 seconds ,the machine is fully rebuilt like New .Complete stripdown, New Bearings ,descaled and reassembled .Most engineers just change the drum as it is a lot easier.
Cheers 😀August 6, 2006 at 10:19 pm #184291indespoint

I am an engineer for hotpoint and believe me we never just change a drum when bearings have gone. We always change the bearings. As for disconecting wires and not knowing where they go back to, Surely it is common sense if attempting this kind of strip down to note the cable colours and where they go or even better if you dont need to disconnect it then dont!
A few months ago i was called to a house in york where someone had done exectly what you had done. He was certain he had reonnected the door lock correctly but had in fact go the neutral and swithced live the wrong way round so when the door lock operated it put a live supply to the neutral side of the timer resulting in blowing the timer. So the cost of changing a set of bearings which cost him £15 actually cost him 10 times that amount as he had to pay for the callout to repair the fault and as it was his fault he had to pay for the time too even though the machine was less than 5 years old and still on free parts guarantee.
Ok we charge £89.98 as a labour charge but you get what you pay for.August 7, 2006 at 12:03 am #184292gegsy
