ParticipantHi
Are there any known timer faults with this machine?
Purchased the above machine in Dec and was fitted in January 14
The wash cycles are much longer than stated in manual
ie the mix wash cycle (sort of quick wash) set on 20 degrees/1600 spin
should take – according to display 24 mins. The wash bit takes 32 mins then it does the rinse cycle -15 mins then the spin – another 6 mins. So a 24 min programme actually takes 53 mins.
A short wash with no temp setting should time at 19 mins. I tried it with no garments/detergent/spin…..the wash bit took 35 mins, rinse 15 mins so a 19 min cycle took 50 mins.
Have just tried the bed/bath cycle. Set for 40 degree wash, display shows time of 1hr 46 mins but the actual time taken was 2hrs 35 mins.
This was straight replacement for Hotpoint WF 860 which did a quick 30 min wash in 30 mins!
Does this sound like a faulty program/timer problem? Bearing in mind the machine is still within the 6 months SOGA time span, what might be done?
Sorry about the long post and any help or hints would be much appreciated.

Forgive my slightly derisive response but quoting the ‘6 months SOGA’ is rather an over reaction toward a simple solution. Namely, contact Hotpoint and get their advice. Clearly from the symptoms given you have a problem and under the terms of the guarantee are assured a solution. Provided of course you have installed the machine in accordance to the criteria specified in their installation instructions and that the water supply pressure is within the machines normal operational requirements.

Almost every washing machine will have programs that will alter based on water pressure, temperature, load size and so on as well as the need to save energy.
To be honest those times sound not too bad, some can tai over three hours for a cycle to complete these days.
More info on it here:

Think on it like cars to a degree.
You can have Ferrari performance.
You can have Prius economy.
You cannot have both.
People have voted with their wallets to have economy and, anything less than an A+ energy rating on a machine these days will ensure it will not sell but, to get that there are compromise that I am afraid there is no alternative but to accept.
