ParticipantI have a problem where my Hotpoint WMUD 843PX UK doesn’t complete a cycle on almost all occasions.
An example is on the Beds and Linen cycle I can put this on in the morning and come back after work and the cycle is stuck with 1 minute left to go. the particulars are:
*No fault is shown and the display is perfect.
*No problem with starting the cycle.
*Washing always seems to be clean and so looks like the cycle does run through correctly.
*Always stuck with 1 minute showing only.
*When stuck the machine is still turning and washing.
*happens on most occasions. The workaround is to power off and select the spin cycle which does complete. The only thing I can think is that we moved house and therefore the machine was transported by a company a short distance but there is no physical damage visible. It seems to have happened after this but that could be a co-incidence although we didn’t have the transport blocks to place back in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated please forum members.

Some more information on the fault
After reading some other posts and people suggesting things I have found that the water is not heating during the wash.
Any advice on next steps please?
Thanks

You need a suitable multimeter or megger to test the wash heating element. Also need to carefully examine all the wiring connections to the element.

I gave you good advice in my last post but you make no mention of actually testing the heating element .
Did you test the heater before you replaced it?If you do not have access to proper test equipment and the knowledge to use them you should not be putting your hands inside any piece of electrical equipment full stop.

Hi
Sorry but missed you reply in between replacing the elements. Thanks for the advice, I do have a multimeter and am quite reasonably competant with electrical work and safety. What results should expect please that would confirm successful test on the wiring going into the heating element?

For the wiring between heater and pcb a simple continuity test, but you should have tested the element for continuity, resistance and insulation before you changed it. It is however pointing towards a main pcb failure or if you are very lucky a pressure switch fault.
