ParticipantHi folks
Been to this today and removed colour catcher from pump – tested after – now not filling.
Remembered you can have fill problems with new machines if you tilt them :rolls: so reset pressure system as described and still won’t fill. Tested at water valve and getting 12v at one – checked valve resistance and both the same so unlikely that one is open circuit.
Is there anything that i might of missed? Can’t believe that just a two minute blocked pump job could cause me such a headache – spent at least an hour trying to find the problem.
When I tried it on a rinse it behaved as if there was water in the machine – pumped out and then tumble but no water intake – timer counting down – I left it like this till it went onto pump out again.
Looks like a possible pressure switch or system fault thinking that there is water in the machine but blown through pressure system to clear – filled with water and drained etc. Not sure if there is any real way of testing this type of pressure switch.
Can’t see how a blocked pump could cause a pressure switch or fill problem unless it was me tilling the machine up 30deg to get a bowl under the filter!
Any comments gratefully received.

i hate these jobs. I have had 3 exactly the same blocked filter
ends up a disaster. I sent the pcbs away and got them back irrepairable.
what difference should it make if you tip the machine back.
Its a stupid design and I just dont tip them back now.July 30, 2013 at 11:34 pm #398379Muv

If you have to tip a machine back, then before you do simply remove the hose from the pressure switch,no need to ever do a reset then….never fails for me…but before this i was in the same boat (the Titanic!)

The problem is that on the Original Arcadia electronics with the new pressure switch system the electronics does not calibrate the switch at the start of each cycle and seems to get stuck thinking its full, this normally only comes to light after an blockage, no matter what you do it won’t reset, the only way Iv found to resolve it is to reprogram the board and it works fine, I had literary done hundreds of these when I worked for HP,
I believe the new version 2.75 they have changed it so that at the start of every cycle it resets the empty position after pumping out

Thanks for all your help and comments folks . Just to let you know the conclusion to this:
After reading all the comments and relative posts on this I went back the other day – tried reseting the pressure system umpteen times with no joy. Even tried to force it to re-callibrate by disconnecting the pressure switch and get it come up with a fault code and thus re-callibrate when I reconnected it again but it never even come up with anything just sat there for 5 mins before I just switched it off.
Either the pcb has gone faulty or needs reprogramming. I left it for the customer to get in touch with Indesit as I don’t have any means to reprogram.
Can’t believe the crap Indesit churn out these days – who on earth thought to make a machine that has no base in that you cant tilt! The mind boggles. At the very least put a warning sticker on it or is that showing some common sense – Oh… I forgot that would put at least 1/2p on the cost of the machine!! Silly me :rolls:
Thanks again for your comments.

Its not the tilt that causes it from my experience its the blockage its self, I tilt these relight back every day with and with out water in and never get a problem, I only ever see this when its been blocked and the blockage it removed manually.
Its an odd issue to be sure.

Would it be possible then with this fault when testing it the heater may come on with no water in the drum? Just a thought to test it on rinse instead of wash.

I was just thinking. If when a retailer sells this machine and tips it on a sack barrow, would this cause this fault from day one ??

With a company laptop and software, or a new smart card and card reader. :rolls:

Hi
I had same problem on a WMUD10637. After speaking to Hotpoint I was told to start programme as normal and it could take up to one hour to start filling.
Suspicious or what but tried it.
Returned after about 40mins to find the water level approaching the soap draw!!
Drained machine and started cycle again and it worked ok stopping at correct levels.
This is the only one I have had ( watch out tomorrow) which again was after blockage. Had no problems when doing drum changes etc.Geoff
