ParticipantHi, Great site you have here.
I have had a few problems with the above machine,
It initially showed fault code F05 which I believe is a blockage.I cleared out the filter, removed the inlet and outlet pipes and gave them a good clean.
I placed it all back together and tried the machine again,
this time it wouldn’t fill correctly.Water was only filling from the left side of the inlet.
I removed the top cover and noticed that the 1st solenoid connector was showing signs of shorting out, The plug was black.
I have tested both solenoids and both are working,
I have tested both terminals for continuity and resistance and the burnt connector and wiring is showing nothing,The blue wire on the 2nd solenoid is fine, I have also tried the blue wiring on both solenoids and both works fine but with the white wiring there is nothing,
I have used a multimeter on the white wiring further back so I tested it behind the short and it shows no resistance.
Am I right in thinking that my problem is with the Control module and the short at the cold inlet valve has damaged the pcb?
Any help is appreciated.August 25, 2012 at 4:19 pm #380127iadom

Given the rather weak nature of these Indesit PCB’s its very likely that the wires shorting on the valve have damaged the main PCB. 🙁

Any idea why they would have shorted out?
Is there a way I can test the Module? Also where can I buy the connector plug for the cold water valve as the one I have is now useless.

Because like everything else from low end, budget manufacturers like Indesit they are flimsy, cheap, cut to the bone components. :rolls:
I do not know if these connections are available but it is very unlikely you would be able to buy a single connector anyway.
When I have encountered this problem and it has only stopped the valve from working without any other damage then I have swapped over the valve solenoid for the old type that uses large AMP tags that never, ever caused problems.
You cannot ‘test’ the PCB, you can only visually examine it for signs of damage.
NB. As this machine has a 3 phase motor you must leave it unplugged for at least 10 minutes before touching the PCB, they pack a serious kick if you don’t. :eeek:

Thanks for the advice, I would get the engineer out as its 11mths old but the lady on the phone put the fear of god into me telling me if they dont find a fault ill have to pay, if they find a fault Ive caused I will have to pay,
Sounds like they will try anything to get out of fixing itAugust 25, 2012 at 8:47 pm #380131iadom

TBH, if it is still under warranty then apart from cleaning the pump filter is is rather foolish ( I am trying to be polite here 😉 ) to be opening the machine up and poking around. :rolls:
Thats why you have a guarantee in the first place.
They are now fully within their rights to charge you for any damage that you may have caused.
If you are lucky and can put the connector back onto the valve so that it looks like you have not been ‘messing around’ then you may get away with it.
Good luck.

I appreciate what your saying, Only had a look myself as it sounded like they would have ‘found’ a reason not to repair it.
