I went to a Hotpoint WT540/1P washer today that had 2nd and 5th lights stuck on continuously (the vertical array)- stayed on whatever you did. Customer said she could not get the machine to start. However after a “cancel” it started fine, but the above lights stayed on. It filled emptied, washed and spun.
After unplugging the machine for a few minutes the lights were all off and it appeared to operate normally (I noted that 2nd plus 5th lights were not listed in the fault codes)

Being a suspicious b***** I decided to do some more tests, at which point I found that there was no voltage to the heater on the hot programs. Heater itself checked out on continuity and megger. Wiring looked fine. So I am assuming that this is a PCB fault (although on inspection the PCB looked totally fine) and intend getting a Mk4 board from EMW – unless one of you geezers has a better idea or know something I don’t…
Thanks in advance for any wisdom on this…

In most cases like this I have found that the buttons are stuck in, gummed up with stuff spilt or them or similar.
