HOTPOINT WT741 – DOOR ERROR FOLLOWING CAPACITOR REPLACEMENT

Hello,

I recently had the common issue with flashing LEDs. I purchased a replacement capacitor, followed someones procedure for replacement and sure enough the flashing led issue has gone.

However, when I went to run a cycle, I can hear the door mechanically lock but for whatever reason the LED for “door locked” doesn’t illuminate and therefore the washing machine doesn’t start the cycle. After a period of time a door error message comes up on the display.

Can I really have caused this by replacing the capacity on the PCB, if so can I replace another component? What should I check for? I cannot believe the door lock is broken as before the flashing led issue, it was working ok. Any advice is very welcome

Bad connections, connectors refitted to pcb incorrectly. :con:

Check carbon brushes in motor

Assuming it has a brush gear motor, some WT741’s are 3 phase. 😉
