    Hi All

I have had a call about a Hotpoint WT960 with an F08 fault – from what the customer says it sounds like it is heating and getting too hot. From the symptoms and the fault code I am guessing that it is a failed relay, my question is this – does anyone know or can tell me what relay is used on the board to control the heater as I would like to go to the job with a replacement relay on me so that I can replace it on site.

    Thank you

    Jem

I would check the heater first had loads going down to earth causing an F08 fault, usauly when they have been washing coins etc damages the heater.

Not familiar with the later boards but the earlier boards and many washers and dishwashers of various makes use the 12v JS1 relay, or occasionally the 24v version.

Both rated 10A ac current, so they’re running at their max. Search about, I think there is a 12A version in same package.
I’ve not yet come across one stuck in the on position but there probably will be one, one day. They usually burn out at the contacts or more often the solder connection to the board, leading to no heat.
Your fault sounds more like what johnnyj says.

Re: Hotpoint WT960 Control Board Relay

Just thought that I would close this one off.

Saw the machine middle of last week and found no problems with heater insulation or continuity and no problems with the NTC either, the relay was not stuck in the on position (it is a fault that I have seen in other appliances that have “overheated”), crimped all the connections and so far all appears ok as the customer hasn’t come back to say that it has failed again and I waited more than long enough when testing it for it fail.

Thank you all for your help.

    Jem
