ParticipantThe LCD is flickering on my hotpoint WT 960 washing machine, is it something I can fix myself if I can source the parts? I’m not qualified but am a quite capable handyman! 😆

The LCD display is part of the console module, around £85 to £90. It would be advisable to take advantage of your five year parts guarantee if it is faulty.
The labour charge is just under £90 if you ignore the Indesit Company Ltd’s attempts to stitch you up with 12 months labour cover for another £60 :rolls:
Does the machine appear to be running normally otherwise?

Thanks Jim
Stupidly , I dont think I signed up for the 5 year warranty at the time, the app form sat around for a few weeks then disapeared! The machine is working fine apart from the flickering, but the missus reckons its getting worse and doesn’t want to be left without any readout and then need urgent help. I might contact hotpoint and see if I can get the part free anyway. So I should enquire about a console module then?June 11, 2008 at 10:53 am #254363iadom

You don’t need to register, your proof of purchase is all you need, also the serial number incorporates a date code so the machine can be nailed down to within one month of production date.

the led’s on those panels do fail & flicker, it wont affect to programmes, but as you said it will be a pain when they all go out, as for getting the part for free, forget it, it wont happen,

Err, if the machine is under five years old he will get the part free.
I think he understands he will have to pay the labour.

ok then, my mistake, i took the bit about getting the part free that he was hoping (as many do) that it could be self fitted

yes, realise I’ll have to pay labour, as much as I loath to do so. Dam annoying that its just over the 12 months warranty period. Had a good go at indesit today, they don’t seem to care. Thanks for the help people.

Update…
I got the hotpoint engineer in after a few paiful phone calls and even managed to screw them down to 49 quid after a lot of complaining! Satisfying to get something out of them. Job done, was the control console. -
