ParticipantHotpoint WMTL790 top loader. Serial no. 78404339. Type. MAP2BNP 462626.
I’ve got to replace a squeaky bearing on this machine. Never attempted a slimline top loader bearing job. Any tips on method??
Cheers,
Steve.

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool WMTL790 top loader bearings.
How old is this Steve. I have never heard of a Whirlpool model starting “WMTL”
The only number that looks familiar is the serial number and if it is correct and is a Whirlpool the machine was made in 1978.John

If it is, I’m afraid I haven’t a clue.

Can you elaborate on that, please? How does the bearing housing come off? I presume there is another bearing hub on the other side of the drum. Do both have to be changed?
Sorry, never attempted one before, so looking to be clear on what to do before going. Thanks,
Steve.

Cheers for that!! 😀
You know the story…….old couple, he was an ‘engineer’, so he hangs around ‘interested’ while you’re working, she’s in a green gingham housecoat; asks repeated bleedin’ obvious questions and generally gets on your nerves.Fast and efficient turnaround required!!! My sanity is at stake here!!!
Thanks again,
Steve.

Leave you lot on your own for an hour, and a technical discussion just degenerates into penguin abuse……… :rolls:
I despair, sometimes.
