I’m alo thinking of purchasing one. Are you saying that it doesn’t come with software or instructions?
Would I bet better off just purchasing the fault finding book instead?

Do you mean a hardware key?
Without the dedicated laptop software they are no real use at all.
They will allow you to put the machine into test mode but the only information the LCD gives you is the same as the flashing lights or console display.
You cannot ‘reset’ the machines with it on its own.
My question is, will the new card reader/smartcard system will be made backwards compatible so that all Hotperloni PCB’s will hev to be cinfigured by a card?
As for purchasing the fault codes book or not, that is a no brainer. Its an absolute must for any independent.
