I have a built in Diplomat electric double oven model 710/ADP4505 (grill and fan oven). The heating element in fan oven has burned out and needs replacing.

When I switch on the fan oven, the fan turns slowly and the light comes on; it does not heat up as the element is broken. I was wondering if I also need to replace the fan.

My question is: Does the fan run faster as the oven heats up or should it run quickly from the start when the oven is switched on?

The fan should run at a fair rate and you would feel the airflow from it with the door open. So from what you tell us it appears the slow moving fan motor may well have contributed to the element failing. Replacing both may well be the only option here. 🙁

We are having similar problems. My husband took out the fan assembly a while ago, cleaned it down and hey presto it was working and did so for about 6 months before the problems started to present themselves again.

He is hoping to get it all out to clean this weekend, but is hoping that using a lubricant on the fan shaft will help. Will post separately to ask if anybody could let us know about a food safe, high temp lubricant.

    Regards
