Can anyone help me with fitting a belt to my washing machine,Hello,

I recently bought a washing machine drive belt ,which I intended to fit onto my washing machine which is a Proaction 105 QW , which I am certain is the correct part , the thing is My machine has no rear access plate to remove to gain easy access to fit this belt, I have tried to locate instructions for fitting on the web without success , there was a only 1 line of verbal advice from a repairer on a YouTube video saying that access can only be gained for fitting by removing the top of the machine for this type, I have tried to do this by fitting the top half of the belt onto the large drum wheel (unsure if that’s the correct term for it) and lying the machine on its side to gain access for fitting onto the motor spindle at the base of the machine, the thing is the belt is about 3 inches short of the motor spindle, and there seems to be absolutely no stretch in the belt in order to fit onto the spindle, the motor spindle in which the belt is supposed to fit onto is bolted firmly to the base of the machine by 3 bolts * there is a 4 locator peg where the motor is secured prior to the fitting of these bolts,

As I say I am positive that this is the correct belt for my machine ,(repeating the type 1228 number code from My old belt) and I know that it has to be a tight fit, but as I say the belt is short of the motor spindle by about 3 inches, My question is, is the belt supposed to be this short of the motor spindle?, as I thought that it would be just as case of easily slipping the belt onto the motor spindle , also can anyone suggest the best way of fitting it, I’d be very grateful if anyone could help me out with this problem, RSVP, Many thanks,

    Regards

    John

    hotpoint do a similar thing

you have to be ultra careful otherwise you will lose your fingers and don’t get anyone to help

you have to lower the belt down and loop it on the motor the pull it round the pulley till it gets tight. make sure its still well on the motor and while holding the belt on the pulley without putting you fingers through the pulley ( or u will loose them ) put your other hand in the drum and turn it to pull the belt on. It may slip off once or twice which is why its a 1 man job as you control the power and can stop before you hurt yourself

as I say be very very careful
if in doubt get a professional.

or to save poss finger loss

    or

you could stretch the belt a bit. its elastic so if its warm and has been stretched a bit it should be easier

but last question how has the belt failed ?
