I am considering buying an Electrolux washing machine (specifically, I’m looking at the EWF168540), but I don’t want to buy it if it has a welded tub. Is there any way of finding out whether it has a welded tub, without having physical access to it?

According to the info I have on the latest version, no it has a split tank.

Thanks, that was quick :). Not to mention a lot clearer than the responses I’ve received from all the salesmen I’ve asked, all of them basically said “huh?”.

Am I right in assuming that generally the high-end Electrolux machines have split tubs whereas the low-end ones have welded tubs? Or is there a risk that models in all of the range may have the welded ones now? I initially considered buying the cheaper EWF167320 (which was “Made in EU” and not “Made in Italy”), but I assumed that the probability of this machine having a welded tub was greater than the more high-end EWF168540.

Ask them to take the lid off!

I mean most car salesmen are only too keen to lift the bonnet on your average dream car aren’t they. 😀

    Your assumptions are quite sound.
