We have a Bosch sms9022gb dishwasher at present, it was here when we moved in so I don’t know much about it other than it seems to be kind of old and I would like to replace it as it doesn’t work!

I’ve just had to turn away ArrowXL who have apparently “never seen” a connection like the one that we have.

Rather than having one inlet and one outlet pipe like on a washing machine (and seemingly like most online dishwasher install guides seem to expect) we have a single pipe that seems to have both inlet and outlet connected to a box which seems to be electrical (although it doesn’t connect to the electric supply so I can only assume it gets power from the dishwasher)

A bit of googling suggests this might be an anti flood mechanism specific to Bosch (aquastop possibly?) So can anyone identify this and let us know what we need to do to connect a new dishwasher to it?

Your connection is fine. The water inlet is an anti flood device fed electrically by the dishwasher.

So is it safe to assume that the delivery guy was simply unskilled? I’m going to try again (ordering from AO instead of Very this time and ordering another Bosch in the hope the connection will be the same) so would it be enough to simply order a dishwasher and expect them to be able to connect it or am I going to need to get a proper plumber in?

All are simple for anyone, even a “delivery guy” to connect up. No plumber required.
