I have a fault on my Brandt CAO380AU Fridge. 😡

The Freezer works OK but the Fridge is Warm. I have tried adjusting the Control Thermostat, and also by switching it to ‘Super’ but the compressor does not start. The only way I can start the Compressor is to leave the Freezer door open for a while. It then runs ok, sorts the Freezer OK and then stops. The Fridge remains warm!

I suspect the main controller thermostat is not working OK, or the unit has lost refrigerant. I am thinking of purchasing the “43X1944 – Brandt Control PCB” that UKWhitegoods sell, but what I don’t know is how to get the old controller out? I have tried but cannot pull off the plastic plate at the top of the fridge to access the controller! Is there a trick? 👿

    Can anybody help? 😕

And, is there another test I can do to check before I spend some £70 on a new controller?

    Thanks

try levering off the covers, one over the hinge, and one on the other side, and undo the screws first!

Hi & Thank you for your advise.

I removed the two little plastic covers giving access to the screws holding the plastic plate and the top fridge door bracket.

    I removed the Fridge Door.

I removed the two screws on either side of the plastic plate at the top of the fridge.

I removed the two plastic knobs (thermostat dial, and ‘super’ switch).

I can unclip the bottom of the plastic plate, by pressing and freeing the plastic lugs.

It’s the top of the plastic plate that just does not want to come off? Are there more lugs somewhere that I have to unclip?

    Thanks again
