How far can you extend a washing machine drain hose?

A plumber friend of mine phoned me today and asked how long he can extend the drain hose of the washing machine. It’s in a block of flats that everyone has put the washing machines in a cupboard in the hall but they have been draining into the wrong drain with the rain water so everyone now needs to either move the machine to the kitchen or try and extend the plumbing to reach the kitchen sink. He thinks he would need to connect 2 drain hose extension kits together to make it work.

the longer the hose the more strain on the pump so you cannot connect 2 hoses together.

is there any reason it cant be done in normal plumbing drain pipe

Hi Dave,
The hall cupboard the washing machine is in backs on to the kitchen and they have just had a new fitted kitchen so the only access is under the plinths.

if there is room in the cupboard you can fit a saniflow type pump and then plumb it into the drain under the sink using 1.5 inch or 1.25 inch pipe
