I am looking at buying a vented dryer and it will be placed in my garage which is fairly well insulated still cool but rarely ever drops below 5°c. I was planning on it being raised up so no bending down to load, but want to know if I used the flexi hose out the unit going vertically approx 1.5m , to a solid pipe horizontally (on ceiling) approx 1.5m to outside would that be ok?

My garage is attached to house and I only have above garage door at front to put vent.

Simple answer, the vent hose should never go up in an outdoor situation or even indoors if next to an outside wall. The hose should always be level or go down and out, never up. What happens when hoses are vented upwards is that condensation forms inside the hose causing the fluff to stick to the sides and eventually blocks the hose. I have seen them totally full of water which has often run back into the dryer causing more damage. Unless you are prepared to remove the hose and hang it up to drain/dry after every use you should possibly consider a condenser dryer.

beware that most condenser dryers minimum temperature is 5 degrees. The main reason is the risk of freezing as they contain water in the pump unit when not in use
