ParticipantHad to laugh yesterday… my customer phoned Hotpoint for a quote before calling me.
She was quoted a fixed repair charge of Β£90 ish. However, the repair only carries a two week guarantee π― . If she wanted a guaranteed repair she would have to take on their service cover plan and pay monthly.
Is this right? How can they get away without guaranteeing their work for a reasonable length of time?

They canβt.
But they have to be taken to task on it by customers. π
Iβd also wager that they offer longer warranties on repairs to insurers. π

By law the repair has to be of a satisfactory standard using parts that are fit for the purpose.
Had a similar problem with a repair on a car done 2 months before the end of the 3 year warranty, 5 months later the dealer said it’s not covered. They decided it would be better to sort the problem out!

The repair is garanteed for 12 months from date fixed, on top of that the whole machine is garanteed for 2 weeks, sounds like someone was after some extended warranty comission!

Yep! You got him bang to rights on that. π
God Lord I left Hotpoint way back in 1971…………….NOTHING CHANGES, they’re still at it π

Makes you wonder how much commission they get? I had one customer today that has been phoned back twice to see if they changed their minds after refusing the warranty deal…
