How long to set?

Hi all,

I have just re-attached 2 brackets to the bottom of my Hotpoint oven door using ambersil silicone and was wondering how long it itakes to set?

There was no instructions with the tube of silicone. I am guessing about 24 hours, but wanted some expert opinion.

I think we would need to know the exact name of the product you used as Ambersil make a big range of silicone products, some of them quite high tech. The general purpose silicone I use takes about 6 hours but would probably not be strong enough for the type of job you describe unless the bits are non structural trim parts.

Hi,

It’s Ambersil Silcoset 158.

I saw it described as the ideal solution for fixing hinges to cooker glass doors, so I would hope it is strong enough.

8-24 hours usually. The more time the better IME.
