I quoted sombedy a price to fit a compressor on a diploamat integrated fr/fz over new year i told her i didnt have a one in stock, but i got one one from somebody else trading it for a module, fitted it to-day she asked me how much i told her the same price, ah! she says craig checked the internet and could get one for about £37.00. I replied did he also look for the price for the 5 lockrings i used the dryer the shrader valve and the gas not forgetting my time, i still think she thinks i done her. she will still be expecting me to g/tee it for life.

    Hi

we charge a min of £185 for compressor change going up in price dependent on the likely recall rate and cost of appliance.

    this might sound flippent.
on the very rare occasion that someone has questioned the cost of part versus the job i tell them this.
you can buy 80 tea bags for about £1.50 but they’d still happily expect to pay 80pence for one cup in a cafe. they realise then that they are being a bit unreasonable.
they are paying us for a service which they are unable to do themselves, also all of our overheads a warranty on the work etc etc.
