    Hello.

I’ve already got an open post about my Whirlpool dishwasher filling, then emptying and giving an error code comprising eleven blinks of the light.

I’m resigned to taking it apart and having a poke around (it’s under waranty, but I’d rather just get on with it then deny everything if the worst comes to the worst!)

So my question is: whereabouts does water live in the machine, and how much of is there? When I installed it, I had to fill the salt reservoir with water (then the salt), so I presume this is still full. Will it stay in? Or can I expect it to poor out of somewhere if I tip the machine over to get the bottom off?

Should I expect water to pour out of anywhere else (the sump is empty so far as I can tell)?

…And then again, is there likely to be any direction I can tip it that will damage anything as a result? Or is it broadly safe to lie it on a convenient face and hoike the bottom off?

    Thanks in advance.

Do not under any circumstances tip the machine over. You will almost certainly do severe damage that will instantly invalidate any warranty.

After many years of experience I can tell 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time if someone has had a ‘poke around’ :rolls:

Give then a ring, get it sorted free of charge, you know it makes sense. 8)

So… hypothetically, if the machine had already been tipped over, what is the sort of thing that might have died?

You realise, or course, that I’ve already tipped it over, but it has worked just fine several times since, only to start beeping last weekend.

The missus is getting unhappy at the manky dishes 🙂

Re: How much water is in my machine?

Its quite possible that the water that is in the sump and water softener has run into the wiring, electrics, electronics, pressure switch etc, etc,

I would quit now and get it seen to ASAP, but don’t mention that you have tipped it upside down. 😥

Tilting from side to side is OK as long as you know the models characteristics, some machines can be damaged by lying them down on the ‘wrong ‘ side. It varys from model to model, make to make.

Problem solved. Was simply an overspill. More details in original thread.

    Thanks for the advice, Jim.

ps. I checked the installation instructions again, and it actually requires that you tip it to one side at one point, so could have always claimed ignorance 🙂
