I’m struggling to find how to get to the Main Oven Thermostat piggy backed on the selector switch.

There are plenty of forum and You Tube showing how to do the job on a Built-in oven but help on how to lift the Gas Hob and get access to the face plate controls is no existent or miss leading and incomplete.

I have on the advice of the one and only post for the A42 with more information than saying “And then there be magic” now removed the knobs, timer buttons and indicator lenses so that by removing two retaining screws (one either side with e top oven door removed. But unfortunately I couldn’t find the two screws which would allow the hob to be lifted and propped apparently by two inbuilt props. All very reasonable, but These screws are supposed to be visible when looking up through the top oven door.

    Help

Just wondering if you had an lucky with accessing as also trying to fit thermostat. Assume have to access from front, looks like have to remove 15mm brass retaining nuts on 4-off gas taps to allow panel to be lifted forward. Appreciate any feedback if this is correct or how to lift hob up.

Once you have the facia off look for a screw on either side going outwards .
Remove them and then the whole deck lifts and hinges at the back .
You Don’t need to touch the gas taps.
You will need to have the cooker removed from the slot though as you need to gain rear access
