I need to dispose of a Hotpoint washing machine model BWM 129 that was installed in a new house build in 2008 but was never used. It displays a fault code of a continuously flashing (no pauses) door lock LED plus the top 2 of the 4 LEDs at the top of the control panel. I’m told (from a VERY expensive service engineer) that this is fault code F12. If it were repairable it would cost at least £250 to fix. This is not sensible in my circumstance. Does this machine have any value to, say, a service engineer as a source of spares (it is essentially new)?. If so how should I advertise this? If not, what is the most cost effective way of disposing of it? Advice much appreciated.

speaking for myself its unlikely to have any value unless you have another machine of the same model no to repair and its old so getting rare

    if it is F12 try
take the lid off and look at the wires going to the control panel. remove the plug from the board and replace it

F12 is a communication error between the 2 boards. it can be as simple as a bad connection. the top connection is the most simple to get at but could also be the other end on the power board. if it does not work and you wanted to go further you could try and locate the plug on the power board and remove and replace that

A new build house and a new used before machine. Irrespective of what F12 saus it is the most common problem in any new build house is the tap turn off or if it did fill the bung (usually light ble colour within the nozzle) not removed or not sawn off waste nozzle.
