ParticipantHi there,
My oven seems to give a low flame. Even when I set up to max gas mark it’s low and it takes ages to cook something.
Owen model – esteem si500
any ideas what could be faulty or fixed?

Owen? There’s a NewWorld si500? Owen doesn’t Google up any answers.
Low flame could be blocked jet, FSD playing up or the gas tap itself at fault. In any event it is NOT a recommended DIY fix but rather you should contact your local Gas Safe repairer.

I reckon the OP was using a small keypad like a phone or suchlike as the word “owen” in the title and “owen ” in the post should read oven!!

Yes, obviously oven, not the owen..
So without the specialist, I can’t run any checks before I call experienced guy in ?

With safety we can approach and do tests I assume, it is not my first time working with the tools.
here is the picture of the jet – https://s3.postimg.org/jdq8h6ocx/20161104_160349.jpg and

the only thing I can do is clean that , anything else?November 4, 2016 at 5:23 pm #442232Martin

Actually no, that won’t help any as that is the ‘burner’ unit and not the gas jet that supplies the fuel. The only thing you can do to the burner unit is regulate the air flow to establish the correct ‘gas to air ratio’ to maintain an even blue coloured flame. Chances are that has already been pre-set anyway.
In the interests of your safety I am not prepaired to elaborate further nor am I ‘Gas Safe’ qualified. There are no regulations in this country to prevent you from tampering with your own oven. And your questioning already suggests to me and others that you haven’t a clue how to rectify the problem. Again I urge you to seek expert help from a fully qualified person who could fix it for you and provide the official documentation to show that the full safety checks and tests have been implimented.

It’s not a fault you can fix yourself , you require an engineer
