ParticipantHi,
Can anyone tell me how to remove the ceramic top from a Zanussi ZCE 7700X?I have a new ring to replace a faulty one. I removed the screws that appeared to be the obvious choice but it isn’t budging and I don’t want to dismantle the whole thing if it isn’t necessary.
thanks

Usually, sides off, back off, control panel off….
More or less a strip down of it.

I have managed to access and fit the replacement element and I took photographs of the wiring in the hob and switches, then wired the replacement exactly but it is a permanently live state.
I checked the wiring again and everything is as it was removed from the old one. Has anyone got any suggestions?

If wired correctly and it’s always on, probably a regulator fault.
Other than that, wiring.

I don’t see a regulator listed as a part, is that part of the element or part of the control switch?
It was working okay on old element and just suddenly stopped working, when I took the old one out the element had burned through at one point, could this have caused a fault with the regulator?

Possible. Unusual but possible.
The regulator is the small switch affair at the control panel the control knob goes onto. That controls the energy to the plate hence the term, energy regulator.
You will need the correct one though, do you have the PNC/Product number off the cooker and I can check the correct one and any alternates?

I don’t see a number on the cooker, there is a label inside the top oven door but it has been wiped clean over the years.
The switch says T150 on it if that helps?

Thankfully there’s one version.
Unthankfully, there’s a change on the serial number and two different regulators are used.
Even less helpful all of them are no longer available from Electrolux although, they are likely to be standard affairs so they should be able to be replaced.
The later single zone one will use this part:

It may well be physically different.
The early one I can’t find a replacement for at the moment, not in the office.

That looks the same, I’ve ordered one.
I’ll let you know how I get on.
Thanks very much for your help.
Greatly appreciated.

The switch finally arrived but unfortunately it isn’t the one in the photo, so I will need to return it.
I have now swapped two of the switches around as they both had the same numbers and the ring is still permanently live and the original switch controls the other ring as it should, so the fault can’t be in the switch
I have checked the wiring of the ring versus the photos that I took prior to removing the old one and it all appears okay. Is it possible that it is the new ring that is at fault?July 12, 2016 at 10:46 am #439102kwatt

I did say that they can be physically different yet still be perfectly correct. Images and looks on spares often isn’t the be all and end all as they do change over time. 😉
I would very much doubt the ring being faulty, the chances of that are astronomically low.

It does look very similar but there are more pins on this one than the one in the picture.

All too possible.
All you do is go terminal number for terminal number unless there’s info saying otherwise.
There’s slews of these that have ben changed over the years with the common conversions for them here:

The original one fitted to your cooker, as I said, is actually obsolete now and replaced by that one.
