How to remove programme selector knob?

I need to remove the programme selector knob on my brand new AEG Electrolux washing machine. The reason I want to do this is that the guy who set it up forgot to remove the thin plastic layer on the localized panel (i.e. the one that says what the different programs are in my native language). I’ve removed most of it now, but I cannot remove all of it due to the presence of mentioned knob.

Does anyone know how to remove this knob? I tried pulling it, but it wouldn’t budge, and I’m afraid of using force in case I break something.

The model is an AEG Electrolux LN79689A3. The product number (which I assume is the PNC) is 91452669200.

I see on the sticker of the machine that the last “00” of the product number I wrote earlier are separated from the remaining digits, so perhaps the product number should only be 914 526 692.

Anyway, here’s an example of what the knob looks like:
