ParticipantA stone in a trouser pocket has damaged a drum paddle on my AEG LL1620 washing machine. What is the required part number and how is this fitted? Does it require access to the outside of the drum or can it be fitted from inside the drum. What is the easiest eay to replace it?

They are a push and slide fit into slots in the drum. spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to supply for you. However, we do need the pNc number (the one that starts with 9) in order to identify the part number.

What a relief! I thought I might have to access the other side of the drum or some other obscure procedure. the PNR is 914525343.
You say they are ‘push and slide’ so to remove I slide to the dront of teh machine or the back? they then lift out?
Thanks for your fast response. Most impressive. 😀

In theory, they should slide to the front – but the locking tab will stop you. When you receive the new paddle, break the old one to remove it.
The pnc number doesn’t appear to work, so ig f you email it through to spares@. they may have more upto date information than I.

5024 97 01-00 / 9 is the part number you require for that product number.

I received the repalcement part but the new one comes with a small screw. Your sales dept. sent a PDF diagram which implies that the outside of the drum has to be accessed to fir this screw, which would be a real hassle. Is this essential as the previous paddle simply clipped into place? Any further insights would be most helpful! 😕

Sorry I dont think this is the simple job described to you. When I worked at service force some of the AEG machines you had to drill through the top of the carboran tub to fit the screw to hold the paddle in place!. It was a really precise job, there is a kit which comes with measurements, drill bit size required and a rubber gasket seal to fit in the hole afterwards.
I would advise calling the manufactures on this one depending on your DIY skills.March 14, 2008 at 11:20 am #244620Colin909

I managed to get a diagram on how to fit it. Access can be gained via the hose to the filter but still a bit of a hassle.
In reality though the screw is not required. I guess they supply it as it is tricky to fit the paddle with the central metal lugs clipping into place to lock it. I managed to fit it by raising the lugs about 20 degrees then tapping the end of the paddle with a rubber mallet (via a 1″ x 1″ cross-section of wood to reach inside the machine). It clicked into place and is now pretty much immovable in teh same was as the original paddle, which had to be broken to remove it.
I reckon the screw is supplied as an additional safe guard in case the central clips do not lock properly into place. Thus the key consideration is to only raise the central clips slightly to allow the paddle to slide over them when being fitted. 🙂
