    Removed an old bendix today, 20 plus years old, which still had the original sales sticker on the lid, the sticker said;

    Dual spin speed 800 or 400 rpm
    17 fully automatic programmes including prewash and economy
    Special dual washing action with reverse action
    10 lb dry load capacity
    Extra large porthole for easy loading
    Quieter than most others.

    ‘Quieter than most others’, what a great marketing statement!!!!!!!

    Only 20 years old? What model was it? I still have many customers with fully operational 7147’s out here in the sticks! 😉

    Had a quick look at the model before disposal, but didn’t jot it down, could be the same as what you listed. Certainly began with a 7.
    Being only 32 years old i was certainly in short trousers when this machine was produced!!!!!!!!!

    Have a Bendix 71968 super compact washer in at the mo again with it`s sales sticker on with the slogan “Bendix quiet reliability”. Shame the manufacturers stopped them. Used to call them “silent salesmen” in the old days.

    Indeed, it was the induction motor.

    I seem to remember a tv advert with a baby sleeping next to a Bendix on spin?
