ParticipantI removed the motor from our Miele G 1430 SC dishwasher, the engine is identical to this one: http://www.ebay.it/itm/Miele-Motor-Umwalzpumpe-Mpeh-00-62-2-Geschirrspuler-Teil-6770470-Mpeh00-62-2-/182412669410?hash=item2a78a471e2:g:NtUAAOSw44BYb6V4
Its connector has got four poles, I meausered a resistance of about 53 ohm among a couple of poles and a resistance of about 66 ohm among the other two poles. I applied 235 V ac directly from the wall socket to one couple of poles and then to the other couple of poles and in both cases the motor was not running. I bought a new capacitor, although my multimeter was showing that it was good, it costed to me 5 euros, and I replaced the capacitor but nothing changed. Is this the correct way to test the motor?
I have also already bought a used motor from eBay and I am waiting for it to arrive tomorrow.January 10, 2017 at 10:18 pm #444380electrofix

you have to know what all 4 wires do before you can get it going
look at the plug in the harness are any of the pins linked ?

I think that there are four poles so that the motor can run slower or faster. It seems to me that our dishwasher has got this feature.
The plug has just got four separate wires.January 11, 2017 at 12:12 am #444382dxrtutdyj

Our dishwasher motor
I have taken it a litlle apart, to check if there was any electronic component that needed to be replaced, but there is nothing other than the wire windings, so it is pratically not serviceable. On the left lower part of the picture you can see the old and the new capacitor.January 11, 2017 at 12:33 am #444383dxrtutdyj

did you check if the motor was getting power when the machine was running. you are suspecting the motor is at fault but it might well be the timer.

Thanks. I had no way to check the timer, but as I could not make the engine run I decided to replace it. Now that I have taken apart the old motor I can take its connector to connect it to the plug and to two multimeters to check the timer, but to do that I have to put almost all the dishwasher back together.

changing expensive part to try to find a fault in a machine can be a costly way to go about things. you may be right but if you are you would have heard a buzz from the motor (when the machine was still in one piece) and it would have got hot as the windings seem to be intact. you also may have got a fault code

You are right.
Yesterday our new used motor arrived, so I compared the two motors with my multimeter and all the values are almost exactly the same. I noticed only one difference: the water impeller consists of two plastic parts and on our old motor they were detached, while on our new motor they are attached together. This would explain why our dishwasher was giving the error code F14, which should mean that there is not enough water pressure in the system.
So I put back together our old motor, attaching together the two impeller plastic parts, but I have not glued them together, so I do not know if they would detach again.
Tomorrow evening I am going to put our new motor on our dishwasher. I have also thought that I could easily check the timer, just using a mains tester.January 12, 2017 at 10:50 pm #444388dxrtutdyj

Our new used motor together with our taken apart old used motor
I bought it from here: http://www.ebay.it/itm/381805270715?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}3AMEBIDX{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}3AIT, so it costed to me about 104 euros.January 13, 2017 at 12:20 am #444389dxrtutdyj

I have tried to supply power to both couple of poles at the same time and our old motor started, so the motor is good. Now I have to discover if the issue was caused by the split impeller or by the timer: I should know this tomorrow evening.

Friday night I installed our new used motor (I was in a hurry, because we had a guest coming on Saturday afternoon) and our dishwasher is back working. Thank you for your help.
