Howdens hja8630 dishwasher

My heating element stays on. I noticed after putting it on at bedtime it was still hot in the morning. Currently washing on the short cycle so I can turn it off when finished. I can’t see anything obvious but it knocking at times, possible blockage?
Any suggestions?

had one recently with the same fault and it was the heater relay failed on the main control board

Thank you very much that makes sense. I wasn’t sure if there was some kind of float switch that would sense the water had gone and switch the heater off. Think I probably need to get an engineer round. Appreciate the quick response!

I managed to replace the relay on the board to cure the fault but any engineer would have to check its the relay first
