Answerphone message. Remote hotel, middle of nowhere, sort of self-catering place and it’s in one of their appartments. Not my favourite machines to work on and when they’ve been installed by Howdens they’re usually on short hoses and mains leads up through the worktop etc. Plus I bet it has one of those bl***y awful boards with the ribbon cable.
Hmm. Nah, don’t think I’ve got time for this one. Maybe I’ll tell them to call Hoover.
Oh sorry, was this meant to be a trade technical enquiry?
Should the thing not give a fault code rather than boil?

:hmm: And I was thinking of taking a thermistor with me. OK, I’ll give them a ring tomorrow and tell them it’ll be a few days. If you’re wrong though you better watch out 😆 .
    Cheers Bob.

Well I went, I changed the selector and I gave it one go at 40 deg and it went through OK. Told him to give it a trial before letting any more guests in there. He told me he’d had a claim for £400 for a wash load of designer clothes before calling me. It is a rather posh place but that sounds like he’s either exaggerating or they were, at least. It’s been over a week now and no call-back so I’m winding up the thread in the hope that’s the end of it.
Would never have guessed that one, so many thanks to you Bob; the pints I owe you are stacking up.
I guess cleaning the contact areas might have cured it but wouldn’t have been worth the risk in this case with the job being so remote.
    Mike.
