Is the double stat on this normally closed or open. I’ve got one of each on this one and there’s no heat on the 40 deg so I’m positive its this.
    Just to be sure. 🙄

There were a few different 9506s Tony – it is the catalogue budget model – various timer and module combinations. Date code to identify which one you’ve got…….

9506 has both traditional control timer & module and also hybrid control unit which only uses a thermistor.
On the earlier timer & module machine the two stage stat is a 40°/50° normally open stat. I have never changed one of these stats. Single 85° stat to the left of heater is normally closed.

I can send you a wiring diagram and sequence chart if that will be of any help.

The early timer/module version stops completely on the heat pause and the 40/50 stat restarts the timer motor to advance the timer out of the heat pause when the water reaches the correct temperature.

If it’s stuck on the heat pause with no heat then look for continuity in the heater circuit and the 83 degree stat. [Don’t forget that the economy switch and the pressure switch takes the heater current as well].

If it advances through the heat pause without stopping then it’s the 40/50 stat gone short circuit.

Its the old type stat with one tag left and two tags right. They are saying it only sticks on the 40deg prog, even on a 90deg will advance through then stick on the forty. Heater and 85deg stat ok. Economy works ok(not checked P/switch 😳 )

    The sequence is:

40 degree wash. Mixed fill, soap mix, static heat to 40 then timed wash with no more heat for xxx mins., then rinses etc.

50 degree wash. Ditto to 50 degrees

60 degree wash… Hot fill ,soap mix, static heat to 50 if not hot enough, then timed heat and low agitation wash for xxx minutes. then timed wash with no heat…. then rinses etc

90 degree wash… dotto except longer timed heat with low agitration (27 mins by memory) If the water is too hot then the 83stat kicks in.

Your machine may be overiding the 40/50 stat on hot washes if the hot water is over 50 degrees as it fills with hot water only. So it may not be heating at all!

Look for burned contacts on the timer connector blocks. If the connector looks burned then the problem is inside the timer.

    Good luck
