ParticipantHi – The drum support wheel for these is no longer available according to CDSL, superceded by pn: 1703273. This is a front and rear bearing and belt kit.
My question is do they already have the bearing pads fitted in these as well as the support wheels ie. if the wheels are knacked can you just remove them and let the pads take the weight?
Thanks
Andy 😀

Thats exactly what you should do , throw the stupid, noisy wheels away, replace the felt strips and the bearing pads that are in the kit. The kit usually has full instructions with it.

no, they used to run on the wheels for support, which gave the horrible rumbling noise, some were produced with a few pads and wheels but they have usually worn out, they are the same as any of the other hotpoint front pads, so you can fit some of those if it saves you having to order a kit, just check the belt at the same time

I wish, I took today off, I do it every year at this time, down to the Trafford Centre and do the Christmas shopping all in one blast. Its the hardest days work of the year.
I’m actually setting up a new laptop so I am flitting between PC’s ATM.

Thanks gentlemen for your swift replies. From what you say it is advisable to suppose that no bearings are fitted and to fit the complete kit, so that will i do, i will to be sure.
Thanks a million have a great holiday

The laptops a present for someone else, just clearing all the crap such as AOL, Norton AV, and piles of other rubbish that HP have pre installed, setting up the wireless connection etc.

I have done a couple of these since my post – not too bad! Is there anywhere that sells non GEN bearings for these as the HPT ones are extortionate (rather than buying the kit). The old non gen will not do as the plastic housing is much thicker than the metal was.

None that I know of, the gen ones are graphite, hence the cost. As the complete kit is £20.50 + vat and four pads would cost £13.20 + vat list price it makes sense to order the kit and change the rear bearing plus all the seals that come with it TBH.

Pity really as fitting the bearing pads is very quick compared to a belt change and the metal rear bearings don’t seem to wear much.
I can’t see the point of graphite bearings even though it is self lubricating it is softer than plastic so i can’t see it lasting any longer.
Anyway thanks for the info Jim – much appreciated.
Andy 😀
PS – Seals ??

It usually comes with the rear foam seal and the felt front seal.
