Anyone solved the leaking door bottom seal problem on these and their Bosch brothers? I have finally dragged this one into the workshop. New door gaskets around the frame and door bottom – water still gradually works its way into the pleat of the bottom seal and overflows. The front edge of the tub was distorted – getting it dead straight again has slowed matters down, but………..

    Ideas welcome please!

    Chris.

I had one of these last year and I “tweaked” the pressure switch a bit 😯

Not the recommended course of action I’m sure but it worked 😀

Err, not sure its got one Dave. Has it?
TTTT not sure I have ever had the problem Chris, at least not one that a new seal or spray arms havn’t cured.

The one we had was the Bosch version with the usual “drip from the corners”.

New door seal etc didn’t work so I adjusted the p.switch down a bit. Sorry, does this model have a timed fill or air break/microswitch water level cut off ??

I dont think a bosch/Hotpoint dishwasher has had a pressure switch for 20 years + excepting the slimlines that is.

Had one of these that didn’t leak, it poured out of the corners. fitting a new seal etc didn’t prove satisfactory either.

Yeah, its the diagphram/microswitch set up, and the water weeps in round the corners. No point in using sealant – the seal’s got to move.

    Chris

I have just put a door seal on a DF54 with the same problem – slowed it down a bit but still dripping at the corners.

Door seal kit- £29.80 inc VAT – (a length of rubber/neoprene/whatever) and two pieces of plastic – robbing sods.

What now? – I hate dishwashers.

Unless the bottom door seal is perished and the rubber gets slightly kinked up and therefore doesn’t seat fully on the tub, there is no point in replacing them for door leaks, it won’t solve your problem!

The usual reason the machine leaks from the door at each end is because either the bottom spray arm is not located properly (i.e the spigot not clipped fully onto the spray arm body) or that the float switch is bunged up and it overfills (doesn’t need to overfill by much either to leak)

Martin, this is a trade forum, I am sure chris would have already tried the obvious 😯

I would like to think that what may be obvious to some of us will to others be regarded as another good trade tip 😉

Calm down dears, its only an enquiry……..

So a fruitless couple of hours in the workshop later………. Another new lower gasket fitted (Water now fountains out of the rh corner – spectacular but of little practical use.) Clipping down the tub edge of the seal has slowed things a bit. Have tried several different botton rotors both straight and “S” shaped and swapped the pressure set-up. Setting the main body seal forward slightly to increase contact has made no difference. I might swap the inner door panel just to get the set…….. 🙄

Any of you Bosch chaps got any thoughts on this?

    Cheers,
    Chris.

Maybe the top spray arm column is restricted where it screws onto the sump?

Chris may I suggest the term “vanishing dishwasher” (VD for short) should be applied here. 😆
