You are supposed to change the drum and duct kit, the felt bearing seal will fail again in a short time if it has the metal duct at the front.. The whole shooting match was modified some years ago. Kit includes new drum, stats, seals, duct, bearing pads, filter, fans etc. It is the only way to effect a long term repair, that said it is often to expensive for most people.

Thanks
I have changed them before, without grease but thougt am i doing the right thing.
we are having trouble with rubbing drum at the back on one of those machines
I think the cabinet needs struts Its hard to get cabinet square their so flemsy,
I might try a large washer on bearing shaft between drum and bearing
if the lock pin will go in, It might get the drum a little bit further away from the backplate where its rubbing,December 6, 2007 at 5:54 pm #236342iadom

There is also a modified drum with a rounded profile at the back to prevent it from rubbing on the cabinet back panel for the VTD models, not sure if the drum for this model has this alteration.

If the drum is rubbing on rear of cabinet you will need to fit Hotp1703080 which is a modi shaft kit. This has a new front felt bearing, rear sponge blue felt bearing, a new rear shaft for drum and washer. The only bits that I fit and sorts the problem out 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time is the blue rear felt bearing and the washer on the inside of the drum between shaft and back panel. I would fit above before fitting the drum.

This is a TDL dryer, 😉 completely different set up to the VTD that uses the 1703080 kit.
