ParticipantDoes a Hotpoint motor conversion work on the old 95 series? I have done two in as many months and both customers complain of excessive shaking as the machine enters spin mode. Almost as if it accelerates into the spin too rapidly. Even put new suspension legs on one of them, helped but didn’t cure it. Anyone else had this and if so did you cure it?

The old analogue motor you have to make sure the wash speed is set up correctlty also as it will cause excessive noise and banging about, there was a strobe disc to set it, i used to just count the amount of times each paddle struck the water you adjust screw on back of tacho, i set speed to approx 33 strikes which worked out at about 56 rpm.

For 95 series (timer controled as against control unit type) use 1604810 or 1604812.

(digital) motor 1604822 dosen’t work on 95 series machines. The motor distributes to fast.

The original motor isn’t available anymore. The wiring diagram shows how to convert the ‘two times four’ block to the ‘straight eight’. Yes distribution IS too fast but is there anything I can do about it failing short of taking the motor back off and giving them their money back?

with these older hotpoints i always just change the armature qualtex still supply them ARM 20 unless there is anything else wrong with the motor.

Had a feeling it was edging that way. Shouldn’t take on a motor change unless at least WM range. Shame though, who can say that the new Hotpoints are anyway better than the older ones??

Sorry suedehead1, not an armature fault, definitely windings. Probably T.O.C.

i just bypass the toc they normally only go if the armature needs changed.
i am sure someone will say this is not the thing to do but i have never had any problem.
i used to keep the old tocs out of old motors they just pull out.March 29, 2007 at 6:57 pm #209238Penguin45

Q/tex TOC17, Hpt 1601600.
Pretty risky practice to bypass any safety device………..

Don’t go there mate. I once mentioned bypassing a door lock once and I still get hate mail. !!!

you could get away with these kind of things in the good old days.
i remember going to a hoover twin tub which would spin with the lid open someone had bypassed the switch.
i would never bypass a door lock now but did in the past untill i went back with a new one. -
