ParticipantHi all,
Tried to close dishwasher door last night and it would not click shut. The plastic clasp in the door appears to work when pushed with the round end of coat hanger which was held and then released when door release button pressed.
I don’t know what else to try. Any suggestions?
I have seen door lock spares, is this straight forward to fit……do instructions come with the part i.e. access to lock?
Rory 🙁

OK, you need to check which part(s) has/have broken, even though this is an older model all the parts appear to be still available 😀
With the power off :zap: the door needs to come apart to access this area, if you’re unsure, please ask an engineer, you should find one here

Thanks Dave,
I’m not sure how to get access to the door lock. There are quite a lot of screws on the inside of the door, all around the outside, do I have to remove all of them?

Door outer panel must be removed for access. Power off and be VERY careful of the stainless steel door inner – you can shave with the edges.
If you’re not confident, get pro help – check repairs@ or Directories for a UKW repairer in your area.

Thanks Penguin45,
I’m quite used to dismantling and putting parts back together, so I’ll give it a try.
Many thanks for the warning abount the sharp edges!

ParticipantRe: Hygena 8212 door lock
I’ve removed the outer door panel and found that a spring is loose at bottom of lock. The hook at one end has broken off. Everything else with the lock looks ok but it is not clicking shut.
The spring is approx 72mm long with dia of 8mm. Will I be able to buy one and more to the point where does it fit?
Can anyone advise?
Rory. 🙂

Yes, you can still get the spring, part number 31X2460 at £5.70 inc VAT and carriage.
An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk please if you’d like one 🙂
It fits between the latch and the metal pin below it (from memory).

Thanks Dave,
I’d gladly order the part if I was sure this was the problem. Still not sure how this small spring fits into the lock or that it has the strength to pull back the large heavy spring attached to the latch.
I assume this small spring is just to unlock the latch when the button is pressed.
I’m not sure if something else is not working as the latch will not lock into place.
Can anyone help?
