Could really use some help here. I have had this dishwasher a while and it has developed a fault. The bottom spray arm ends up at a slight angle after the cycle has been run. I guess there is a part broken or worn out. I have taken it apart a bit and have stopped because I don’t have a manual and don’t want to do further damage. Does anyone know what part I need to replace and whether it is DIY or do I need an engineer? Is there anywhere I can get a repair manual?
    Any help welcome.
    Thanks

    Hi Phil,

You’ll have to be a bit more specific I’m afraid, there is an ADP8224 and an APL8224-1, -2,-3 and -4 and we’d have to know exactly what variant it is to help you. I suspect that its on of the four APL8224 models and the you need a lower spray arm and the stand thingy for it.

    Hi,
    Thanks for responding.
My paperwork only says 8224. Is there a plate on the machine somewhere that gives fuller details? If so, any idea where I might find it? There is nothing that I can see without pulling the machine out. If I need to do this, fine, but I’d like to know where I am looking.
    Regards

    Hi Phil,

Pull down the door and there should be a rating plate on the left hand side, looking from the front, on the stainless lip of the inner door.

If its not there we could be in trouble. 😕

    Re: Hygena 8224 dishwasher

    Thank you K,
    Don’t know how I missed that. It’s an APL8224/1.
I have had the lower spray arm off and that seems fine. It is the bit it is mounted on that seems to have the problem. Part of it looks as if it is worn out of shape, and it wobbles about a bit. Problem is I don’t know what it looked like and felt like originally. All I do know is that now after running the machine, the lower spray arm ends up leaning over slightly.

    Re: Hygena 8224 dishwasher

Okay, it’s the one I thought it was then. Done a few of these over the years. 😉

Looking at the latest listing on it there is 31X8476 listed at £14.06 ex VAT & carriage which is detailed as “spray arm with hub support” which is what I think you need. The spray arm should be sitting on a metal pin type thing and that plastic assembly around that starts to go but so does the lower arm from memory. That’s why they sell it as a kit.

I fact it looks as if they’ve done away with selling it any other way, all the components in that assembly now point to that one number.

Dave should be able to check availability tomorrow for you.

Phil, if you drop me an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk I’ll let you have further details tommorow when I’m back at the office.

    Re: Hygena 8224 dishwasher

    Thank you for that K,
Is there a way to look at the parts you are talking about? I searched around the web for any diagrams but could find none. The part you are talking about sounds like it could be it, though when I took the assembly apart as far as I did, I don’t recall seeing anything metal aside from the spray arm.
I am quite happy to purchase the part – at that sort of price it is a good bet. Does it come with any fitting instructions or do I have to guess?
DO I need to contact Dave separately to check availability – if so, how do I go about this?
Many thanks for your help today.

Yeah but I’m going from memory here Phil and it’s been a while since I saw one of those.

Essentially it consists of the spray arm and all the hub/gubbins that the spray arm sits on and it is a fairly common failure.
