We have a problem with our aging APL 8212 dishwasher, perhaps someone can give me some advice?

On the standard wash cycle, the detergent tablet does not get dissolved by the water inside the machine. We often find the tablet at the bottom of the machine and the dishes only semi-clean. This doesn’t happen every time, maybe once every three washes.

What are we doing wrong? Is there something wrong with the appliance? All help much appreciated.

Check bottom rotor for blockages, splits and free turning. There was a replacement kit for these machines (a good few years ago) as it was a regular problem.

Worth considering that a machine of this age was never designed to use tablets……

Well, it looks as though your advice did the trick!

Not only were some of the holes blocked in the bottom rotor, a couple in the top rotor were blocked aswell. Not only that, the sprinkler at the very top of the machine was completely gunged up with what looked like undissolved detergent and/or limescale.

Also, the bottom filter was full of debris (including a rusty screw!) and the fine wire mesh filter was covered in limescale which I have completely cleaned off!

Fingers crossed, but I think the problem is solved! Cheers

    🙂
