ParticipantHi
Have a Dishwasher – Hygena APL8213.
Over past few months the programme/timer stops at the point the powder door is opened. We advance the timer one click – then it carries on but stops again before the rinse( i think).
Thinking it was the timer, we bought a new timer unit and replaced the old one.— but it stops again at the same point plus some new ones — suggesting the timer isn’t the problem?.
Help!!
Can anybody suggest what is going on? Does the cycle rely on getting signals from other areas?
Thanks, IanNovember 23, 2004 at 10:59 pm #120170kwatt
KeymasterIan,
There’s a few things that could be wrong here, but I’ll need to have a look at the tech info on that particular model to be anywhere close to acurate in a reply. I’ll have a look in the morning and see what I can see.
In the meantime could you be a bit more specific and tell me if any errors or error codes are displayed on the timer at all?

K,
There is no number display on this model, just an on/off switch and the timer/programmer.
The programmer switch has a rinse only/stop and a heavy, normal and economy start points.
Before I changed it the switch gave the impression that it did not have enough power to open the powder door – ie as soon as it was turned the next click, the door opened. But it also stopped at other points .In normal mode, it goes through empty cycle and then fills up and then goes no further- a manual turn to next click, it starts to spin and then the door opens. I’m sure before the timer was changed, it used to spin for a couple of minutes and then stop, the next click opened door.
It stops later when it goes into the rinsing mode, somtimes needs three/fours manual click-ons.
Cheers

KeymasterOkay, it’s the Brandt semi-integrated machine, sorry I was thinking on the ADP8132 and not the APL8213.
It’s a mechanical timer on that which, in all honesty I think we’ve replaced one or two here in ten years, so not a common failure by any stretch. In fact that machine really doesn’t give a lot of grief generally.
There’s a plethora of reasons why it would stop during a cycle, heater, float switch, chamber blockage just for starters but I would not have suspected the timer of being at fault given the experience on these machines.
TBH, without being sat in front of the machine without a multi-meter and a few screwdrivers this is almost impossible to diagnose remotely but I’d first be looking at the side fill and air break chambers.
