ParticipantBeen to have a look at a Diplomat ADP4851 Double oven and the customer swears that the far right knob used to turn on the top oven and control the temp all at the same time?
The type label is missing at the bottom and all the markings have been scrubbed off the two right hand side knobs for the top oven.
Top dual circuit oven grill element heats up ok and the bottom oven element heats up as long as the selection knob (third one along from the left) is turned on but the customer says all he used to do was rotate just the right knob only for heating?Without a instruction book or circuit diagram I could not check this out for the customer. Has anybody come across this oven as it appears that the selection knob has to be turned on first before the far knob on the right red light comes on. Then heating starts until the desired temp is reached by the thermostat position..

did you look where the thermostat was ?
if its on the back of the switch then its a 1 knob operation if separate no. Also on a 1 knob operation the knob will click when it turns on then does not click for about 180 degrees and then click to turn grill elements on
hope this helps

Thanks Dave
Elderly gent using this oven and the thick fat around the unit is pretty well stuck in so did not want to start trying to get it out if the far RHS knob just operated a thermostat only.
Weird thing is if the other knob beside it is turned on then all the different heating elements will heat up and glow nicely in the grill.
The standard oven element also will heat up on the bottom of the top oven. So all the elements are working in spite of the first position working or not and the red light above the far RHS knob only comes on when the selector knob is rotated clockwise?Would have thought that if the far RHS knob was faulty then the red light would not come on and one of the heating systems in the top oven would fail? Have hunted around for a circuit diagram off the internet but so far no luck.
Will try to see if the thermostat has a switch unit without having to tyre lever the oven out of the fatty fitting, ugh.

Thanks Colin
The information and diagrams were a great help to me trying to sort out the elderly gentleman who insists that he did not have to turn on the selector knob for the top oven to operate.
Much appreciated.
