    Hi

I have a Hygena APL8224 which appears to be overheating. There was a bit of a burning smell and when I opened the dishwasher halfway through the wash cycle, one end of the element was glowing bright red.

I am guessing that this is not good but do I need a new element or a whole new dishwasher?

I would really appreciate any help anyone can give me with this!

    Thank you

    Jo

Sounds like no water in it or no water circulation. Relies on water splashing on it to cool it from the wash arm spray. Power off it you are going to have a look yourself Or Repairs@ for an engineer.

Thanks so much for the reply Simon. There was definitely water in it as I had to drain it after I stopped the cycle. But, the water level was below the element. I don’t know if that is normal!

I will have a play with it tonight and try to see if the wash arm is working properly. If not, I guess it is engineer time!

    Thank you.

The whooshing sound will tell you if the water is circulating.

    Hi Simon

I just wanted to say thank you so much for your advice. I removed the wash arms last night and gave them a good scrub. Several of the holes were blocked with food! I am terrible at cleaning!

I put it on and opened it at various intervals and it seems to be working fine now.

Thank you. You’ve probably saved me a fortune!

    Jo
