KeymasterHi – I’m unemployed and broke but have a hungry daughter who likes her food hot, so am desperate to fix my oven myself if I possibly can. Anyone cleverer than me out there who can help? Is my diagnosis right, and where can I find the part?
OVEN DETAILS
Built-in fan oven, Hygena, Mod. APL3223 Turbo; Typ. FEV171; SNr. 5850003000-411711 – about 10 years old, came with my flat.PROBLEM
The oven no longer heats up, but everything else still works – the grill, the light, the fan. I’m guessing this means the heating element is broken and needs replacing.QUESTIONS
1. Does this sound right?
2. Is it a reasonable idea for me to try and fix it myself? I’m reasonably technical but completely non-expert, and have plenty of time to try.
3. Where can I get one? Google search not yielding this model number anywhere, and can’t even find a Hygena site.I realise no-one can give me a definitive answer without being here, but all thoughts really appreciated.
Best wishes

KeymasterNo problem on the element Tim we’ll have an answer on price and availabilty in the morning for you courtesy of Dave no doubt before I get into the office.
You’re right, it will be the fan element which is reasonably easy to replace.

ParticipantHi Tim,
Dave Conway should be able to advise with regard to cost of element in the morning.
Theoretically, it’s a screwdriver job, but if you’ve any doubts at all get some professional help.
And turn the power off first……….

Hi Tim, could you recheck the model number please, APL3223 isn’t listed on the current MFI parts CD Rom.
It may be correct and not listed due to it’s age, if you could confirm though just to make sure.
Even if it’s not listed, there will be an element that will do the job.

Wow – thanks very much for looking this up for me.
You’re right – it’s an APL 3227, not 3223 – no idea how I got that wrong.
Thank you
Tim
Sorry Tim, youre double post got deleted so i’ve quoted above.
Anyway, the fan element is £35.21 inc VAT and postage.
Let me know by email if you want one ordered/sent and i’ll arrange for you.
Dave.
