The adjustable “legs” are lowered anti-clockwise as you look at them. The black plastic type have notches in them sufficient to enable forceable access with something like a screwdriver. The metal “legs” also turn anticlockwise using a 10mm spanner. However, in the latter case often the threaded legs rust and therefore seize up to a point where it is difficult and almost impossible to budge. A liberal application of WD40 left to soak a while overnight may help. Though often only a hacksaw proves the appropriate tool. 😉
