ParticipantThe fridge is just 12 months old. Power is on (interior light on). Internal temperature is 20C. No sounds , Compressor and fan not running.
Any advice will be helpful before I think of buying a new fridgeSeptember 6, 2009 at 7:52 am #296394spimps

Don’t know this model but presume it’s an undecounter fridge with no freezer section.
If so is the thermostat inside the cabinet or along the top, could be as simple as the thermostat,if you get an engineer in could cost you 70ish to repair so better than buying a new one. Switch and unplug before dismatleing anything.

Thanks for your reply. Fridge is made by Candy/Hoover. It is built in under worktop. No freezer compartment. Thermostat is under a removable plastic cover on the top front edge. Thermostat looks easy to replace. Is there any way to check if it is faulty before replacing it.

Unplug first, you would need an avo type meter to check continuity ie there is a circuit through the thermostat connections.Note the colours and numbers of terminals on thermostat, remove connections you should then have a circuit though the thermostat,if you haven’t it’s your thertmostat if you have a circuit it’s probably the motor

Multimeter continuity check gave these results.
Thermostat turned off NO CONTINUITY
Thermostat turned on Continuity only between connections 3 and 6 (both brown leads)
Apart from earth only other connection N0. 4 (black) no continuity. Can I assume the stat is ok and I have another more costly fault?

Terminal 6 usually supplies the light and 4 the compressor, looks like the thermostat could be your problem.
They are probably available on this site somewhere.
